i googled it found software in abundance i downloaded driveimage xml ill try that first.
i found a 32gb sd card here so i decided id get a little practice in and followed the link you posted earlier from eight forums. took two hours to install on sd card but the buggering thing wont boot, some bcd error
what if i created a partition of about 24gb on a hard drive and installed the os on it, then clone it to the usb
would that work
got a crossover cable today to take the router out of the loop, assigned ip address's. works great maybe an improvement in sound, def not any worse.
did u guys get two usb drive pcs streaming yet?

Hi,
nope, didn't get to that yet, just didn't sort out the networking issues. I have a slightly complicated network here, 3 routers, with one being the DHCP and one that doesn't play nice and refuses to be placed on the network map sometimes.
I have noe done more listening with hi res material and it all is working OK streaming even hi res files from a NAS type set up via WTG stick.
I have also compared this to the 2 box W7 set up - with all things being equal, directlink etc. Sound is still very equivalent to using the WTG stick.
I'm pretty impressed by the WTG I have to say and have to be begging the question as to what would 2 x WTG PC set up sound like. Well, I'll be trying that once I get a second USB stick.....
Its all very imrpessive I have to say. I was listening there again tonight (to that Jimmy Cobb hires recording) and the depth and breath and layers in the soundstage is just fantastic. The shimmering brushwork needs to be heard to believe.
Very impressive indeed.

os wont let be start any program or install without a password i cant even enter
i thing i might need help with this, was it a program that solved this or the entries in command prompt. ill see about retuning the incompatible usb3 stick to get one that works.

Fran, my USB sticks are winging their way down to you - posted today.
Nige, my earlier comment about USB3.0 sticks not being compatible may not be correct - there seemed to be a corrupt ISO image that I had so you may not have to return your USB stick. Sorry for the confusion.
You still didn't get the ad-hoc network working?

John - I'll let you know when they arrive.
Nige2000 - I go to the thread on computer audiophile and on the last or second last page see where I ask the uac question and Peter Daniels answers me - follow that link. It's easy, just create an administrator user in dos.

You need to run the cmd prompt from the "ease of access" button on the start screen - created during the "getting rid of the other user problem" process. That cmd prompt is elevated so should allow you to create the admin user. ie don't do it from within the W8 if you know what I mean?
Don't forget to use fideliser - it certainly makes a difference.....
