Got this about a month ago and I am working my way through it with much pleasure. It was a little bit on the pricey side, but at this point I have no regrets whatsoever. Great (GREAT) and amazing renditions of some of my favorite pieces (especially Schubert). In addition, I am making many new discoveries. This will be one of my desert island boxes for sure. Highly recommended! :)

What a wonderful collection (and quite broad too) Peter; I have looked at the contents and it looks very attractive indeed!

Following on from my recent purchase of the Honegger Symphonies I had promised myself that I would investigate the Honegger Cello Concerto so I have purchased this version....
....and it is coupled with a nice looking R Strauss offering!

Got this from Germany today! I really really like it. The first cd included Brahms 4th with Giulini/Concertgebouw (live 1979) as well as Nielsen's 5th by Kondrashin/Concertgebouw (live 1980). Great sound and electric performances. I even started to take a liking for Nielsen's 5th - the first movement is strangely magical with the percussion coming at you in waves. I can see why it was praised on one of the threads here. It calls for another listening. I hope the rest of the cds in this live set are just as good as the first one!!! It feels like a big chocolate box!

I would love to get all of the RCO box sets, some day perhaps.

This one has been in the Ponder Pouch for quite some time. I have read a lot about this work and not all of it good but it still intrigues me. It was originall realeased on the Marco Polo label but the forces on it are so huge that the sound quality apparently suffered. When Naxos rereleased it on their Budget Label they remastered it in order to improve things. As this is apparently the best performance of this work I look forward to finally getting to hear it.
