No, wouldn't think so. The effect isn't that big IMO.
In 100000 it just pushes it a bit further ahead, in the R2.1 it just pushes it a bit closer. But R2.1 + 448 still doesn't make it a 100000 (even without 448). It just doesn't have that extra bit of space and air and doesn't have that extra glow on tonality.
Give me a 32-bit version of 100000 and I'll be quiet for a long time :-)

Cheers

Was rhetorical

Prefer to be able to adjust clockrate myself
As it does not affect version preferences only enhances

difficult for me to test sse2 r1.3 as i get crackling/distortion for 3-15 sec at start
sort of throws me of the scent so to speak

the r2.1 is good but lacks the detail air and space of 100000

if i were to guess id say 1.3 is a shade better than 2.1 but the crackling at start makes it a non runner
is that the avx2 100000 version ?

avx seems to have stopped working on my laptop.
Yes avx seems to have the detail or resolution advantage

Maybe time to get a audio pc and r2 for version testing ?

Don't do that to me, I'm much too serious for that kind of subtleties ;-)

Agree with your suggestion to invest in a dedicated audioPC + WS2012.
Gordon should even be able to get into one of those Dreamspark or Bizzspark programs by Microsoft, so it won't have to cost a penny for Windows 2012 licenses (that's how I got my 5 free licenses)

Just an idea and shoot me down if I am off the wall but how about a new audio PC build from the "master builder" (that's you by the way Nige) with all parts donated by the community here!
I am willing to donate a brand new in the box Asus Server board to the project to get it going....more details when I check the box this evening.

Given all the good work Gordon has been doing I would get more satisfaction from this than the donations to the charity, good and all as the charity is.

Would certainly help towards the progress in aligning a lot of the requests and development ideas around if Gordon is open to this!
Apologies if I am overstepping Gordon but it would give me and everyone here I expect the greatest of pleasure to hear your reaction to hearing MQN from a dedicated optimised audio PC.

If you are a bit swamped for a project like this Nige I understand but maybe you would be up for building on a different board for a change :-)
OK make way while I run for cover.............

Thanks for the kind thoughts.

Just as I'm trying to finish with MQn ! Think the difference isn't that great compared to the difference in MQn versions. I am interested in changing the tracks on the circuit boards to gold, so if you can send me some gold I can melt it down and replace the solder tracks.

Well if MQN is finally coming to its conclusion then no problem as we do have a good back catalogue to work with!!

Still think you are missing out on the benefits of a good optimised audio PC....

Regarding Gold I think my collection of Sovereigns will remain buried only to see the light of day when the next big financial collapse come to pass....in the meantime I will enjoy the sweet sounds of music :-)

ah ya don't know what yr missing!!!
Hardware and power implantation is just as important as software, especially when it comes to unwanted noise

i don't mind throwing something together that would blow the laptop away if only to provide proof

pearse,
which server board is it?
R u using the b85 currently?

Had a nice lad around today picking up a hifi component. He had a quick listen to the audiopc,MQn and quads and I know he was not being nice as he had already acknowledged that my 'other' system sounded fine. That was Jplay with laptop on Spendor speakers.

He was genuinely gobsmacked by the Zuma PC/MQn. Never had heard anything as realistic.

I didn't believe that the laptop could sound so average compared to the zuma but last year when Pearse brought his early zuma the decision for me was instant.

Anyway hold your horse you surely aint done yet!! Hires for 1000000 and the bit of functionality that was there previously. You can then happily retire(doubt it) or move on to your next project.

Maybe we should pay for a flight to the real hifi centre of the universe to hear for yourself the rub of leprechaun magic!

Hi Nige, it is an "Asus P9D-M Server Board (Socket 1150, AMD A88X, DDR3, S-ATA 600, U ATX, USB 3.0)".
I had plans to build on a server based board this year but given the B85 is working well and ran well for Scalford I am happy to stick with it for a while.

I also still have the Intel board with the i7 processor on it available for a build if Gordon is up for it!

The only real convincing on people these days is hearing the benefit and am glad myself I went to the trouble on many nights at Fran's, Tony's, yours and Sebs to easily confirm the improvement going the dedicated audio PC brought.
With all the on paper failings of windows and motherboard architecture it still amazes me what you can do with it when properly implemented.
Cheers, Pearse.

oh thats a nice board
did you try a picoless boot on it

even the difference between dedicated pc's and their modifications can be quite vast, thats how we were able to evolve them
