Some day I really must do a proper traversal of my Purcell collection.

Yes, that sounds about right. I've been (nearly?) all the way through the Complete Odes and Welcome Songs box, but I've barely scratched the surface of The Complete Anthems and Services. The recent Gardiner box and various other stage works are also waiting to be properly delved into. So much music, so little time.

When you finally get around to builing that computer that you are planning you also then plan to rip all of your music onto a hard drive so listen in real time as you rip and kill two birds with one stone LOL!!!

Well done Jared....and you chose a very good version too I think. The musicianship is exemplary and you should be very happy with that purchase. My advice regarding listening would be to take it in suitable chunks at first.

^^ yes I agree... in a similar way to tackling something like I'm listening to at the moment; Bach's Sonatas for Viola da Gamba & Keyboard... little and often!

I have this feeling of that you guys only post a very small selection of what you actually buy!!! lol I must admit that I (too) tend to purchase more music than my house can accommodate or that I have time to listen to (and I DO listen a lot). Still, it is an innocent pleasure....
I finally fell for Harmonia Mundi's most recent baroque opera collection as it seems very enticing! It is on its way!!

I'm not sure about that Peter, I think we all like to share our purchases with our friends. There's been much discussion on this over the past year and I think some of us are at the point where we have been slowing down the rate of our purchases. Of late, I have been adding to my Baroque collection but frankly I don't anticipate large amounts of new purchases going forward, with constrictions on time, space and money. I am therefore hoping to enjoy my collection more, from now on.
There is however one box set I really do have my eye on for the near future however:

I own the 2 McCreesh disks, but not the 5 Goebel ones, which would be a very welcome addition to my collection, especially for the Mystery Sonatas...
