Is ok... Bruggen's style benefits the accompanying disc mate the "Little C major" 6th more than the larger boned 8th.
It's a lovely set Don, but the 8th and 9th are lacking I feel.

Actually not a total loss, I have lots of good 8 and 9 recordings. I had few recordings of the earlier works and as I mentioned they sparkle with Bruggen's approach and smaller ensemble.

That was one of the first big Handel vocal works that I bought a long time ago now and agreed, it is excellent.

Agreed; better in the earlier works which are very well done.

Are most of these personalities and up-and-coming conductors working in the HIP world?

Ludwig van Beethoven
Piano Sonatas 8, 9, 10 & 11
Wilhelm Kempff - piano
These are beautiful performances of Beethoven's exquisite works.

Yes Fergus, this is his second set of recordd performances and it is in stereo. Many prefer the first and original mono box set. I might get it some day.

It might be interesting to see if his playing and interpretations are indeed different between the two sets Seán but I would not be buying both of them myself....far too much other music to be investigated. My Wish List still stands at over 200 CDs!!
