I tend to agree Fergus. I have his Mozart Requim and like you said its just too ponderous.

Concertino in Cm and Passioni Amorose for two double basses from....

Image

....both fine melodic pieces containing passages of virtuosity. These are the only two pieces that I have specifically for the double bass and they are both relatively short so one is left wanting more.
