it really is a beautiful piece, Fergus. I have just bought some really nice looking wall-mounted speaker brackets, too.

I know, but I've been running through some old Mozart recordings (including a number of interesting pieces from the BBC Music archives) and thought... while I was in the mood. They are very enjoyable little pieces to be fair, when one considers they were all products of his teenage years... he really seamed to know how to write for the human voice from a very young age, and this recording (as is often the case with Kammler) has a mixture of boys choir and adult voices, making the textures very light, energetic and joyful.

^^ are you getting into a little more opera these days, Darren? I have been very slowly building up a small Blu Ray collection as you know... while on Saturday night, I'm off to see Handel's Julius Caesar and on Monday, to see Verdi's Nabucco.

^^ I don't think I'll ever be opera's greatest fan Jared. I certainly think Mozart's (late) operas are his masterpieces and I have a lot of time for Wagner. I adore Der Rosenkavalier and have seen that live, as well as Simon Boccanegra.
I don't have an inordinate attention span and, I believe, it's a bit of a palaver reading along with a libretto (I'm glad I know plots to my favourite operas now, so I don't need to do this - I can just bathe in the music). Maybe the way(s) forward is/are: a) more performance attendace (possible) and, b), DVD/BluRay (requires further consideration and research)

I ordered the 10 CD Kubelik Masterpieces set on Membran/Documents from MDT in the UK. Big fan of Kubelik and this set has some of the Chicago recordings that have been hard to come by.

After I had completed "The Planets" thread I promised myself that I would eventually buy the Boult version which a number of people had mentioned. I have finally taken the plunge.

Just bought some headphones for my Blu Ray system, so I can enjoy the many tone-colours within my opera disks, without forcibly 'educating' my neighbours too much!!
