I checked the last 24bit versions on my 8.1Pro-64 Atom based system.

All the new 24bit versions (R1.0 -> 1.4) work well on my system. All wordlengths and sample rates up to 24/192.

********************************
EDIT: I'm sorry, I've to correct the previous statement, R1.4 works but heavily distorted both with control R1.0 and R1.1.
********************************

I use mqnload, the new mqncontrol R1.1 512 opens a couple of windows.
With "run as administrator" flagged, mqncontrol.exe R1.1 512 changes clockrate in the registry in this way:

44100 11610
48000 10667
88200 11610
96000 10667
176400 5805
192000 5333

I briefly listened R1.0 and R1.1 (std and 512) with control R1.0. I like the low end of these versions (my preferred version seems to be R1.1 512). I prefer them as a whole over my last reference sse2 v10 (I cannot play sse4 and avx).
I run all these tests with 23220 clockrate and Thesycon WaveIO driver set at low latency,

In the beginning my wife thought that I just like those songs very much..............now she's just looking to get me "adequate" help!

Tonight I listened to R1.1 512 (again), R1.3 512 and of course the famous 100000. Did not listened yet to R1.4.......I believe that would be "the last straw"!!!

When I'm "testing", I'm not looking for a specific "this or that", I just play the music what I usually listen, and choose the player what sounds the best to my taste and for my system.
Is it really the most perfect or the most precise one I don't really care as long as I'm happy! In the end, how will the movie stars look without a bit of makeup?! ;-)

All of those 3 versions sound different, but still I can't make my choice! I like them all........maybe R1.1 a bit more, but......!

What I do know is that my system never sounded this good!!! Crazy good!!! I'm afraid to be alone in the room, I have a feeling that the musicians are alive!!!
So, thank you Gordon for this wonderful player and thanks to Nigel for tweaking my PC.
THANK YOU GUYS!

mqncontrol R1.1 512 and mqnplay R1.4 are working perfectly for me and changing the clockrate in registry without using mqnload. Sound quality is excellent .

I don't know if it is because my "Version-myelitis" is in it's Terminal Stage, but I'm confused with the top post!

Are we still using the "old way": MQncontrol (R1.1 512) + MQnplay (R1.4) + MQn bat + MQn paste?

mqncontrol R1.1 512 and mqnplay R1.4 gives immediate crackling sound.

Using mqncontrol R1.1 512 and mqnplay R1.3 plays just fine and sounds nice.

So some incompatibility in my setup with that last version.

Cheers

every frequency will have an optimum/preferred clockrate

the new mqnload changes this for you automatically when you swap between 44.1/88/96/192 etc
by dividing the frequency by a factor of 10

wether the factor 10 is good or not we will just have to experiment

So, in the other words, I do everything the same like always.
The only difference is how MQn works, right?.

sbgk wrote:uploaded 24 bit R1.3 mqnplay, removed setting which gave forced sound

uploaded R1.1 24 bit mqncontrol which adjusts mmcss pro audio clock rate to the sample size/10 eg for 44.1 sample size is 116100 so clock rate for pro audio is set to 11610. It doesn't set it back to original setting.

works ok with mqnload, less so with mqn.bat because it opens 2 windows.

mqncontrol needs to be set to run as administrator so it can update the registry.
I think this is Sima's concern. I had no issues with R1.3, I didn't try R1.4 yet, but I do use mqnload. Has anybody tried to run these new versions with mqn.bat yet?

Yep.
No problem with either mqn.bat or mqnload.exe.
They all call the same mqncontrol.exe program.

My only issue now is with the cracklkng of R1.4 and the fact I still prefer 448 on 44.1kHz over this automatically set clockrate. It is easy to switch between the two by making a .reg file that sets that specific registry value. this can be run during playback and is immediately in effect. 448 has some additional shine and depth over the automatically set value in my setup.

Cheers
