8 Lp box of magic! I went on about it at length a while back, yet only two people here bought the cd version!!! Came across a Hi-Fi World piece this morning in their classic cuts series (last page, latest edition) and I jumped for joy! So I'm not going mad after all :) Typed out a little excerpt below....Now will yis listen?????

Hi Fi World Winterland review:

" As such, Hendrix and the Experience were on fire, the group being at the peak of their performing powers with both passion and energy searing across a stage that struggled to restrain them. In contrast to that intensity, there is also a sense of relaxation to this music. That's partly down to the length of time Hendrix had to dwell on his art. After all, this was a man who travelled constantly, packing and unpacking, moving from gig to gig. This show, spanning 3 days, allowed him to dwell upon his technique for a longer than normal period which produced a more considered performance in which he was able to concentrate.  If you're a Hendrix fan - buy it. If you're an audiophile - buy it. If you love the guitar - buy it. Can you sense a theme here?"

Slowly but surely getting into Tom Waits. Have lots of cds but this is my favourite currently.

Nashvilles finest. David Byrne covered one track'the man who loved beer' on his grown backwards cd.
Similar but I think his version is better

Eno and byrne growing old gracefully but still kinda kicking ass!

Due to disagreeing with Sloop John will have to post my jazz listen in the appropriate section. Well we get what we vote for.

I thought I was losing my marbles! I haven't come across one review in any of the rags, but as I don't buy as many as I used to, maybe I failed to spot them....In case people don't realise what Fran is referring to, it's the Jimi Hendrix Winterland set that I alluded to earlier.

Just listening to downloads at the moment....while I wait patiently for an Lp release :)
Apparently Azusa Plane was one Jason DiEmilio who suffered horrifically for years with acute tinnitus. He died in 2006....

Btw, this actually a very good recording too - very unusual these days.
