I'm not crazy aboiut his latest Paris symphonies set, however, I love the box set above. The RCO London set is okay, Abbado's with the ECO is brilliant.
I don't know of another conductor where opinion is quite so divided... I feel he's better at Classical repertoire than the Romantic I've heard (didn't like his Schumann symphony round at all), but I've yet to completely see what his supporters see in his interpretations... and it doesn't surprise me about Abbado's version; the man's Premier league status...

I agree with you on Abbado. I like Harnoncourt's Haydn, love his Bach and Beethoven and couldn't be bothered with his Schumann.

I've been listening to a CD of Bach Organ works, from the BBC Music Mag this month... sorry Simon, but I honestly can't say I enjoy it; it's more of an ordeal to get to the end, than anything else.. ;-((

The magnificent Cantata BWV 127 with its beautiful recorder and oboe instrumentation coupled with the wonderful choral singing.
