listening more on avx2 v1 win8.1-r2 100000 in win2012

very very good emotion with vocal.
shinny treble. elegant and classy. ok rich.
very(too?) smooth

total opposite to my all time favorite- mqn.exe2.82. raw. rousty. live. (treble tune incorrect)

thx

Much seem Right with R1.1 As you say not balanced like 100000
Think if bass is fixed will fix balance

Why not mod r2 instead of r1
already did (but corrupted...). R2 has better timing. but digital tune.... hmm...
my r1 has true analog tune.

actually the real reason is...
when a lot of things running, i.e. when jitters come, R2 compresses sound.
in R1, when jitter comes, R1 blurs the sound.

compressed=digital sound=bad.
i can tolerate blurred sound of R1.

might change my mind anytime. don't know enough
Think I know what you mean about compressed digital sound. I really believe this is very much eased with the power supply and hardware modifications
You probably find the same with modified os

Not in situation to listen yet, but I checked R1.1/24 R1.0 control if it works. I find that I can play 16/44, 24/96, but it crackles at 24/192.
Gordon - any idea, or I just forget about those? I have only 2 albums, I can covert them to 24/96. They are taking too much space for little or none of the gain comparing to 24/96.

My understanding is that Microsoft rewrote large parts of the audio components in WS 2012 R2 and for the better. I also understand that the audio components of WS 2012 R2 are the same as W8.1, which is better than W8 IMHO.

But of course your ears must decide.

You are right, we all hear different, but I moved from win7 to win8 and finally win8.1. I find win8.1 to be the best to my ears.
I still can't stand win8.1 for everything else, it drives me crazy. I love win 7, to me the best windows ever.

after 6 to 8 months I got used to win 8 to r2 and it doesn't bother me any more

Might be reading between the lines in the wrong but my impression of the problem with r2 is its a pita to modify

OOB r2 is much better than r1

Was hoping for a JC r2 iso to try out at some stage
:(

how about the rest of 1000s of non-audio components that affect sound?

Could you transplant in r2 audio components into r1?

hey jrling, try this:

backup first!

go to registry, randomly pick 100 keys, delete them.

it will affect sound more than a 'new wasapi' of win8.1

wasapi is only a very small important part of audio streaming
