Ah fergus, you bring a tear to my eye.....Wishbone Ash's 'Argus'.A band at their peak, which sadly, they never scaled as high again.I remember listening to that album on 8 track, would you believe, on my brother's all singing, all dancing cartridge system.'The King Will Come','Lay Down The Sword', 'Leaf and Stream','Warrior','Time Was' .....BLISS :-))))))))))
You got it right there Dermot, one of those Championship teams that never quite make it to the Premiership, and after they moved to the States they became, er, pants. BUT, Argus, Pilgrimage and Wishbone Four were worth being seen with in the schoolyard.

Nicely put John :-) and don't forget the first one too; I remember hearing 'Lady Whiskey' on the Kid Jenson show, being gobsmacked and then much later on hearing 'Errors of my Ways' and being totally lost to the Wishbone cause! Also still have the original tickets for the reformed original band back in the days (Olympia, I think) and I couldn't make the gig .....my biggest regret ever!!!!

Delighted to hear that they do fergus... BTW what prompted you to go for the power amp?
My pre-amp, although sweet, was not driving the Spendors as much as they needed and although the sound was fine the whole system needed a lift, to be honest....a bit of grunt![/quote

Thanks for taking the time to answer my little query fergus and glad too that you got the 'grunt' back :-)

Ahhhhh :-))) BTW which Wishbone Ash song is your personal favourite? Mine would be the pick of the following: 'Errors of my Ways','Valediction', 'Leaf and Stream','The Pilgrim','Jailbait','Throw Down the Sword'....and I also loved the short instrumentals 'Alone'/'Lullaby'.....However if I was to pick one I would probably go for......'Jailbait' because it was the very first song I'd heard them play (on an 8 track cartridge) and that guitar solo knocks me for six every time I hear it,just as it did back in the days....

Just got the latest vinyl list from Tower and I nearly choked when I spied this monster on the list?!?!? Now that takes me right back... Don't worry I already have two originals with different sleeves, with the original review stuck inside somewhere. BTW it is only just amazing for a debut album and so totally different to anything else that came out then that now almost 30 years later it still manages to stand the test of time and still sound so totally unique....read the reviews below if you don't believe me...

Note: This is the CD edition with 4 bonus live cuts.... Don't know about the Lp....yet.
