V16 and some of the others don't seem to be on the download drive?
Thanks to Nigel, I'm enjoying Minimal Server. ;-)))))))
With Tasker (like JC will say) another 0.5% improvement.
I can't try anything new tonight.......just to exited!

Don't like the 100000 version............maybe because it does NOT play in my system! ;-)

Tony, you and me should not leave the school in the first place!

Nah I reckon Gordon is purposely loading dud ones for us and sending the working ones to Nigel. Has to be!
I checked 5 mins after Gordon's post and hey presto V16 was there.

One of the goons will probably explain better but a 'little' program/exe done by Taggart again that assigns and maybe sets priorities relating to MQn. I think getting it to run on a specific core. Sure it is more complicated than that.

according cpu benchmarks, my second core is coolest in temperature(highest oc capable), also sounds better, as it seems

Did some extensive listening to V16, V16-256 and 100000 all with 16-bit/44.1 (had to do my tax forms first).

V16-256 appears to be topped off. 100000 is freeer. It is difficult to explain, what I hear.
Both have apparently the same kind of airyness, but 100000 has more freedom in height and reverb while V16-256 seems to encounter some limit restraining the full freedom to expand the airyness completely.
100000 seems to have no boundary while V16-256 can go far but still encounters some ceiling.

V16 comes very close/undiscernable from 100000 wrt airyness.

Airyness is tested with Alban Berg Quartett - The Teldec Recordings (1971-79), track 1-01. J.Haydn - String Quartet in G minor, Op.74, No.3 'Rider' - I. Allegro.wav
This track has a very airy and springy opening which has a slight reverb that can extend into the space for a longer or shorter time with diminishing strength. Better player can let you hear it longer and more freely.

100000 better than V16 in microdetails vibrations in low bass notes. V16 has got a more polished surface where the unevenness of the vibrations of the instrument are gone or only show at the lowest notes where the vibrations are bigger than at the slightly higher notes. While 100000 can already show the vibrations at these slightly higher deep bass notes, which are smaller vibrations than at the deepest bass notes. Also in V16 the vibrations have less clarity, not showing as raw as they can and are somewhat polished, sounding 'nicer'.
When listening to the Prokofiev cello sonata, be sure to make a difference between the vibrato applied by the player and the vibrations of the wood and strings.

V16-256 is not as good in the vibrations as the others, it is kind of blanketed. I can hear where the vibrations are but they are not coming through, as if being covered. V16-256 is better in presenting the highs than it is in presenting the lows. But in neither areas as good as 100000.

All IMHO and on my setup.

Cheers

Aleg

Aleg - are you talking about "mqnplay.exe 24 bit avx2 v1 win8.1-r2 100000" when you say 100000?
Thanks for an extensive report!

yes, this combination:

"mqncontrol.exe 24 bit avx2 v1 100000.exe 24 bit avx2 v1 100000.exe 24 bit avx2 v1 100000"
"mqnplay.exe 24 bit avx2 v1 win8.1-r2 100000.1-r2 100000.1-r2 100000"

100000 version is the buffer size equivalent of the old 448
I was fond of
This buffer size seemed to show much more resolution or like the refresh rate of a picture on a tv the more often the refresh rate the more accurate the picture and it's movement and fluidity

Sbgk thinks lower buffersize meaning much more Loops Causes more noise

But there's probably much more going on than that

For me the detail and realness sets mqn ahead of the game

My problem is that my DAC can't play 448 or 100000, but I was listening V16 last night without any serious testing. It does perform well, I would say.
Gordon - any chance for V16 2000000, please? I would like to experience hirez with this version.
