^^ I will do, Fergus. I have taken a bit of time out from my present Brahms & Schubert pilgrimages to do some 'revision' of works by Berlioz, Mendelssohn & Liszt, which I already own.... I then felt the above CDs were areas I wanted to explore a little further, as they are thus far, gaps in my knowledge of these composers. Many seem to feel that Via Crucis is a hard work to get into, so I would like to give it some considered air-play.

The Arcanto Quartet playing Debussy, Ravel and (as has become customary) Dutilleux. The Debussy was most seductive.

Alexei Lubimov playing the Debussy Preludes on an old Steinway and an old Bechstein. Beautiful playing, beautiful colours.

It's a remastering of the Gold Seal 1988 reissue by Kazuie Sugimoto
(of XRCD remastering fame). Not something I usually worry about but
the original was apparently a hi-fi demo LP in its time and the first CD
sounds a bit abrasive. I hope better of this - not exactly
a buy except paying the postage. Can't grumble at that!
