Was Pottering about the house and decided to put this on 'in the background'.........Big Mistake!! after about 2 minutes that was the end of the pottering and I was stood still, captured by the music....2 minutes later I was in the chair being blown away by the layers of excitement and satisfaction that this album always gave me but I had forgotten about, having not spun it for quite a while. Fortunately I had lit the fire BEFORE pressing 'play' or there could have been trouble.
If you have 52.08 mins or so, pop it on at reasonably high volume and surrender to the full journey (I almost said 'trip' !)
JAW will love you for that :-)

I used to listen to it on vinyl back in the early 70's!! I came to like their older stuff better as I got older so I haven't heard that one in a long time.

Way and above my favourite Floyd album. That period after Syd was dumped and before DSOTM had some great stuff. It's not everyday you hear a motor bike and a train on the same track!

Got the mono box when The Beatles reissues came out first, coz that's the sort of thing a nerdy audiophile does.

Picking up some stereo ones now that they are on Amazon at £6. This one for me excels in its stereo form.

Although my favourite Beatles album veers from Abbey Road to the White album to Revolver depending on atmospheric pressure my second favourite is always "Beatles for Sale".
Always brings a smile to my face, a tap to my feet and has me singing* along in harmony.

Don't forget Fat Old Sun either :)

When that fat old sun in the sky is falling
Summer evenin' birds are calling
Summer's Sunday and a year
The sound of music in my ears
Distant bells
New mown grass smells so sweet
By the river holding hands
Roll me up and lay me down

And if you see
Don't make a sound
Pick your feet up off the ground
And if you hear as the warm night falls
The silver sound from a time so strange
Sing to me
Sing to me

When that fat old sun in the sky is falling
Summer evenin' birds are calling
Children's laughter in my ears
The last sunlight disappears
And if you see
Don't make a sound
Pick your feet up off the ground
And if you hear as the warm night falls
The silver sound from a time so strange
Sing to me
Sing to me
When that fat old sun in the sky is...(fades out)
