Your question has an underlying assumption that copying is unavoidable which is true for WASAPI and ASIO but not necessarily for KS :)
More CPU-compatible 128bit SIMD is used in both driver & mini but have to say difference from not using it was not exactly earth-shattering – perhaps because of the above :)

another reason to explore ks

its all well and good but if josef as all the answers whys mqn better?I

simd might not be better than avx2

but ks is very promising
would be interesting if they could do a mqn type minimalist version, I've never understood why they can't get a more neutral sounding engine and they moved away from pure memory play despite some protests at the time.

I have I3770T processor and after Cvrle59 mention that AVX2 V7 work in his system with his third generation processor, I downloaded and tried tonight.
It works like a charm! I did not change to any W7 compatibility or anything else, nothing, just download and play!
None of the other AVX2 play, not even the latest 100000.
ONLY AVX2 v7.

Gordon, either this is not AVX2, but it sound much better that AVX V1, or you just discover something new that even you are not aware of!

I suggest everyone with Ivy (maybe even Sandy) to try this AVX2 v7 version.

Can confirm what Sima66 said. AVX2 v7 works even with Ivy Bridge processor.
With Haswell processor I had the problem with instable AVX2 versions in GUI Mode, but after switching to Minimal Server Mode and optimizing the system everything works fine.
Can use all AVX2 versions for 16/44.1 and some also for 24/44.1, 24/96 and 24/192.

I just realized that for avx2 100000 I need to use the 100000 control! I used the V1 control. That's probably why I could not get the sound from it!

yup, looks like it's just avx that's needed.

What does avx2 with haswell and minimal server sound like ?

getting a lot of hits from linkwitz lx251 user group after someone said they used MQn, anyone here use them ?

uploaded a 7b version (play + control) that has half the v7 buffer size for 16/44 and double for 24/192

think the 16/44 still sounds thin (as did the 100000 version) and the 24/192 is much improved ie fuller sound.

only these 2 play

Finally got avx2 v7 running on haswell after putting mqnplay into compatibility w8 mode. Like it a lot. Vs avx v1 i feel more macrovibrations (bass goes deeper) and good details.

Minimal mode is a small but still an improvement for me over r2 gui.
