Setting yourself up for a Mahler fest Darren?

I agree with Seán....that Bernstein cycle will yield many delights!
Just adding to the library Fergus (just sold Beatles box set too!) ;-)

Proper order too, if my daughter see that comment: I'm dead meat!

Hello again. Still waiting for the Mahler 2/Klemperer. Meanwhile this one turned up. I gave it a first listening
and couldn't quite believe the Dvorak was so enjoyable. Most pleasant.

It comes with Brahms Symphony 3 (for which I bought it).
Mixed feelings about it now. Maybe I had it at the wrong volume or something. No matter, Karajan's blistering
performance of the last movement made up for the rest. Quite a blaze! I'll give it another go later.

:)

A-hah!

The Klemperer/Mahler 2 arrived today - at last. Only taken 3 weeks!!

I have problems with Mahler so I'm not sure whether I should give it a go tonight or wait until I next fly to France (in which case it might take the pain out of air travel these days. I could probably listen to it a couple of times while waiting...waiting...being screened...waiting. Come to think of it they might not let me take an MP3 player on the plane... not that they're worried about Mahler as much as electronic gadgetry).

:)

Edit: They're pushing it a bit on this disc: 79mins!

Delighted to hear it.

Yep, go for it. and listen to it again and again and again until you get intimately familiar with the wonderful patterns Mahler weaves through his music, for example, the bass line throughout the First Movement.

Mahler's Resurrection in mp3 format on a noisy plane? Good God, no man! Listen to it at home, with the feet up and relax and enjoy it.

Agreed, at home, best place!

When you fall in love with Klemperer's then the next one to get is the Solti/LSO recording, it is FAN-TAS-TIC!
