Which version of mqncontrol are you running Aleg?

A simple, superficial . google search doesn't shed much light on AVX , one reference made mention of a variable that had to be set in registry . For my part I'm going to experiment withsome BIOS settings , see what happens.
From memory there is a player that specifically uses the AVX instruction set ??

AVX INSTRUCTION SET SHOULD WORK PERFECT ON YOUR PC WITHOUT CHANGING ANYTHING

Thanks , Nige . I skimmed the wikipedia entry yesterday, but couldn't find anything , like a software switch that might make Mqn work universally. I'm very pleased with the versions that do work. Just wanna see what everybody else is enjoying.

So...AVX versions should be ok with Sandy/Ivy Bridge and AVX2 need Haswell?

uploaded an avx2 448 version ie 100000 period, need to use the 100000 control with it.

It only plays 16/44 or 24/96 in 24 bit containers.

I find the 16/44 a bit thin sounding

Solution found:

I'm using Win server 12 unmodified.

MqnControl is v1 2000000
MqnPlay is avx2 7

I right clicked control the control.exe file , select properties and ran in windows 7 compatability mode rather than windows 8 . Worked first time. Very very nice sounding.

Will try this for other control files.

Hirez v1
V1 2000000
V2 20000

All work with avx2 V7 if control.exe is run in win 7 compatability mode.

So, you made me to try to change compatibility to w7, and avx2 v7 worked. I changed it back to w8, guess what, it worked again. To make sure that I wasn't fulled around like a few days ago, I switched versions 5 times by mqnload deleting mqnplay from that folder every time.
Gordon - I am wondering if you posted right version, as my CPU is 3rd Gen, and it's not supposed to play avx2 v7, avx is fine?
