Bruckner 5 [Chailly]....
This was a wonderful, sensitive performance with plenty of “weight”; the strings sounded great and the brass was biting!

Zemlinsky – Die Seejungfrau [Chailly]....
On first hearing I really liked this music with its alternative lyrical and turbulent passages.

Mahler – I have concluded Bernstein’s wonderful cycle with Symphony No. 9....
....the highlight of which was undoubtedly the final movement which was wonderfully played.

How do you rate it Fergus against other Mahler boxsets? For me anyway, this one surpassed the Bertini set as the best all rounder.
