It's most definitely worth the purchase Fergus. You're already familiar with the Takacs Quartet and their Bartok work so you should know what to expect. That ensemble certainly have their own unique way of playing this sort of music and its no different with these Beethoven String Quartets either. Highly recommended.

Berwald – Symphonies 3 & 4....



I really liked these works and the performances and this collection of 4 symphonies has really appealed to me.

Mahler – Das Lied von der Erde [Bernstein]....



I really liked this version. Parts 1-4 seemed “lighter” and full of energy and life while, in contrast, Der Abschied was intense. I also really liked the performances of the two vocalists.
