Avant-garde very good too. Probably wins the biggest system of the show! They have a demo thing with a drummer sitting in with playback - I reckon to show dynamics..... Will know in 20mins!

Lots of big snakes on the ground behind speakers too. Lots of very exotic stands and sound absorption panels too.

Eh, if the seismographs in trinity were flickering there just now, it was probably from the avant-garde room in Munich!

Hearing great things about Aries Cerat (not at Munich, just in general) as a true assault on the high end. If they're there, it's not a room I'd pass.

Last few shots from Munich 2017. It was a great show, relaxed yet lots to see - you couldn't see it all. Every time I went back through the main hall I saw something else I had missed.

The huge western electric cinema horns sounded great, like the avant-garde, very dynamic and fast.

The other thing that surprised me was the amount of higher end Japanese electronics - denon, onkyo, teac, marantz - its clear that there is some very credible high end gear there that we never see. There were really lovely daps by onkyo and headphones too that I hadn't seen before.

I'd heartily recommend taking a trip to the show if you've interest enough, its very well organized with shuttle buses to and from the airport and hotels. Based on what you get to see its better value than going to one elsewhere I think.

Thanks for all the pics, Fran. They really bring home the magnitude of the event and the amazing gear on show.

I'm going next year, that's all there is to it. We'll have to find someday to babysit if Hazel's going to be away that weekend too. Anyone know the dates for Munich 2018?

Looks great Fran, A lot of the amps in those photo's are similar in style to Nigels. They look tres expensive. Large power supplies seem a necessity, Nigel has it well covered. Looks like we might have a posse of potential tourers next year. Think I will try to fit it in depending on work.

I must try and make it as my 2 daughters are doing German in Uni and should be able to hold my hand.

I can't help but think of Tom Baker era Doctor Who when I see some of those speakers though!

I'm loving all the great photos and comments about Muninch 2017.

Two things on my bucket list are...

1. Munich Hi-End Show
2. Utrecht Record Fair

If I could only remember where I hid my retirement money!

Yep, really enjoyed the photos, thanks Fran! Good to hear that the audition options are well taken care of. Certainly has to be top of the list for HiFi events to attend. With good debriefing possibilities around some of the local brews during the evenings..😀
