Cube or double they say it's the worst for sound room.
I built my room 12 years ago and of course I realized that AFTER I finished!
My room is 8 x 16 x 32-35 feet! Perfect storm!! :)
Here are some of my DIY treatments:

Re: New Music Room
It's definitely improvement with all of them. Does it fix the entire problem....I don't think so!
Just correction, my room is 8 high x 16 wide (second half 19') and 32' long!
The big 3 units (right after my component stand) should work more like difusers for lower frequencies and they are two chambers units. The rear chamber (wall side) is a membrane bass trap.
I also have 3 big DIY corner bass traps from Owens Corning rigid fiberglass one foot tick and 3'x6-8'. (only 3 because I have my bar in the fourth corner).
I had them in the frame with just a cloth over:
Than I covered them with "reflective" surface, so they don't absorb much highs. My floor is now all tick carpet and I have a lot of difusers so I don't need another high-suckers!
Now they look like this:

Re: New Music Room
Getting there. Speakers are now in the room and have been tuned in by the dealer. Sound is pretty good but back wall defiantly needs some treatment. Had some advice from GIK and have ordered tri-traps, 244 panels, monster traps and polyfusors. Nothing fancy just basic fabric. I'll post some pics once I have received them and have everything in place.

Re: New Music Room
Looking forward to photos and impressions how the GIK panels have changed the sound!
Cheers

Re: New Music Room
All done (mostly). Sound has really improved, all slap and flutter echo is gone. Soundstage is better, more detail and just more together.

Re: New Music Room
Looks great! It looks like you've gone for mostly absorption and not much diffusion, is that right? Certainly I can easily imagine the improvements in a big, reflective room like that. I'd say it sounds superb!!
