Great to see a growing number of Jadis owners on the forum. Certainly a big departure from the Devialet in terms of technologies. What are your thoughts in terms of comparision between the 2 types of amp. Is it that you find the Jadis partners better with the Quads or just that the valve presentation is, dare I say it, more on the "beautiful" side of things?

I think a real plus with some of the Jadis designs is that they run in pure Class A. This really does seem to give a much more powerful presentation than 60wpc would suggest whilst keeping all of the valve traits such as lush midrange and and unforced top end..

I couldnt really give a conclusive comparison on the two amps Steve as I had a speaker change pretty much at the same time. I only had the Quads on the end of the Devialet for barely two evenings. In that time the Quads were still charging a ndprobably not on full song. I will say though that the Devialet was mighty impressive with them. All of it qualities came through even more than the Audioplans.
The Jadis has that wonderful midrange magic ace up its sleeve thats rarely been bettered than any other amp I've heard. It has this uncanny ability to make even the most horrid recording listenable, not that I have too many in my collection but they are there nonetheless.

I'm going from memory here but I would say that the Devialet has a more extended top end and a tighter grip on the bass and probably a more accurate protrayal of whats on the disc. Its quality is that its never harsh,forced or has any glare. Incredibly even and fluid across the whole spectrum. The Jadis on the other sacrifices just a little of those qualities at the extremes but as mentioned above, its magic lies elsewhere.
I would say that on some recordings I'd probably prefer the Devialet over the Jadis and vice versa. Simon summed it up perfectly before in that you probably need both!

Just one more word on the Devialet. I was a bit prejudiced against it when I first went to hear it and again when I brought it home for demo. I wanted to hate it but its ability won me over very very quickly. Those of you with similar thoughts; go give an audition if you're thinking of an amp change or just plain curious. Feeding a pair of Quads, it has gone toe to toe with a Jadis and performed admirably.

I'd still choose the Jadis though in a heartbeat. Not just because of looks but ever since I heard Ciaran's old JA30 monos I always dreamed of owning such an amp. Its talents have been slowly washing over me this past week and I'm in absolute heaven every time I cue up that TT arm or push play. And to think that this time last year the living room hadnt a single hifi component in it.

Yeah its quite noticeable alright. I have to be careful as in the evening time the amp gets direct sunlight for an hour or so. A makeshift blind does the job though.
