Played a bit of this vinyl double last night before lights out; Specifically the last two tracks over on side 4, namely: Parisiene Walkways and Jumping at Shadows and my jaw hit the floor! Amazingly emotive music perfectly capturing the live environment, with one of the longest held notes (Parisiene Walkways) I've ever heard! Respect....

My first Jimi album! Mine is nearly worn thin. Must be one my first LPs after I got my first AIWA all-in-one stereo as my confirmation present. I even remember buying it. Rosengård shopping centre in Odense! I "learned" every single track on it from that LP and never knew it was regarded as a quality recording. Classic! :D

Thanks for sharing that with us. Lovely story :-) Bleeding Heart is notable for the fact that Jimi really, really holds back instead of his usual stratospheric flights and turns in one of his finest ever performances. I love that track to bits especially since it's the only known live version that exists. Every other studio version pales badly by comparison.

On double vinyl, Deep Purple Mk. 2 in their absolute element live on stage in Stockholm 1970 just before Wring That Neck and Mandrake Root (32" and 28" respectively!) were jettisoned from their set to make way for, er, Space Truckin' :-(

Aaaaaaarrrrgh! Just listening to this LP now. On a 100 euro home studio mixer with RIAA for DJ'ing and my DIY Class D amp. It might be a little bright sounding compared to my usual setup, but sweet jeeebus why did no one tell me how good this album is? "Little Wing" is so clear! "Bleeding Heart" is everything described here and probably the biggest influence on my playing as it "taught" me the blues. The record is, surprisingly, in pristine condition, so I really must have minded it all through my teens and twenties! :D

As I said I bought it in a shopping centre (like Tesco) for ten euro (still has the sticker saying "Records and Tapes"!). I always just assumed it was another terrible compilation and probably haven't listened to it in 10 years. I have made a small pencil drawing of Jimi on the inner sleeve dated 18-8-90. I remember now that my first band played "Bleeding Heart" at our school disco in around 89-90. We also played in the gym when the school celebrated its 20th anniversary in 90. As the school opened on the day Jimi died, we played "Little Wing" as a tribute, complete with teeth and over-the-head-playing etc.. ;) I am actually getting a bit misty here so I better just leave it and thank you guys for another unexpected eye-opener.... ;)

Ah Claus! Just reading this now and I'm loving every minute of it :-) It's even better when someone like you 'gets' it. Must have been some jam session in the gym ;-) BTW while idly walking down Grafton St. I came across a homeless artist exhibiting his wares on the street between HMV and the other shop - I can't recall it's name! Anyway he had an unbelievable painting of Jimi that he did on display and the only criticism I could come up with was the guitar was too small; Everything else was stunning, and I mean stunning! There was no price only what you could donate. If he's there next time I'm up I'll buy the painting! It's that good....
