Tested Total commander on my desktop PC, now how do I JUST copy a music file so I can use mqn. When I hit F5 (copy) It wants me to select a destination.
JC you think W8.1 is better than R2 now?

hold right click on track file menu will appear, or select and ctrl+c to copy

sorry, didn't say clearly enough.
go to registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
at "shell", it says "explorer.exe".
change it to "cmd.exe". if you have win7, win8/8.1, then it will automatically become like R2's minimum server mode.
no need of R2, really. 8.1 and R2 are the same thing.
explorer.exe includes metro, desktop graphic. if you don't use explorer.exe, metro is automatically gone
there is other ways to kill metro and keep explorer.exe as shell. that's what i am doing right now.
kind of need explorer.exe for customize graphic rendering, it affects SQ a lot.
total commander nor does cmd has control on graphic rendering. -1 point for SQ.
that's why minimum server mode will not achieve max SQ. will get you good SQ.

I would recommend anyone buying or thinking of changing Motherboard to spend a little more and buy one from Paul Pang with the improved clock module.
Add 5v clean power and get anther little improvement but either way the improved clock is a definite improvement over the stock clock on my MSI board, really glad I took the leap into the unknown on this.
Just been listening to music for the afternoon on both JPlay and MQN and loving the improvement and how well music sounds.
What's next in the closet Nige....

Dunno what's next
I had a list and that clock was at the bottom of it
So we would better get thinking
I got a few hrs this morning listening with avx 100000
I've a b tested switching between clocks and ps over a few days
Starting to think this last clock mod + battery is showing more benefit than I first thought ( granted I was a bit sceptical)
Hearing bits of my test tracks I've never heard before
So detailed but yet smooth and free flowing
Difficult not to get lost in the music while testing

What's needed for this? i.e where does one get the clock? Are there different types?
Just a hammer and mole grips patch it up and that's it???

Tried playing some music with a regular uncoocked sata cable, one of the biggest cable differences I've ever heard, for the worse.

i wanna test a couple of cheaper clocks

a little soldering experience helps as it will be easy to do damage

Nige,
Just to get an idea of the cost, how much was the clock that you used in the first place and how much are the "cheaper" ones?
