Another fine version of the Dvorak Violin Concerto.
The coupling of the Elgar Sonata for Violin & Piano was also most enjoyable.
Glad to know you enjoyed it Fergus, I would have preferred a different orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic or the Gewandhaus for example, but Vengerov´s playing is both dashing and cultured, I like this recording a lot.fergus wrote:

I certainly did enjoy it Pepe; he is an exciting and energetic virtuoso!Jose Echenique wrote:Glad to know you enjoyed it Fergus, I would have preferred a different orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic or the Gewandhaus for example, but Vengerov´s playing is both dashing and cultured, I like this recording a lot.fergus wrote:

This is also a great favorite of mine. Wispelwey manages that rare combination of tenderness and authority, and the orchestra is quite good too.fergus wrote:Dvorak: Cello concerto....
A very good reading; most enjoyable. It is always interesting to hear a gut stringed cello, especially in those lower registers.
There is also some lovely music among the "fillers".
