Rapid Storage Technology (RST) 12.9.0.1001 driver is out.
download
http://www.station-drivers.com/index.ph ... -intel-rst
tried it. like 12.8.6.1, SQ is rich.
still prefer 12.8.2. most air/transparent. stage size is maxed out.
personal preference:
12.8.2>12.9>12.8.6

Did some A/B tonight, prefer 12.9>12.8.2>12.8.6 - 12.8.2 helped transparency, you're right, but (in my system!) at the expense of tonal body/gain. Sound became too thin overall.
Anyway, you're definitely right that it's a matter of personal preference! Probably system-dependent - will sound better or worse depending on your system's transparency/body/etc. before the tweak.
I'll post more tweaks tomorrow when I'm not so lazy... lol

yes 12.9 should be better.
i think i am using 12.8.2 to compensate my lack of clean power source.

internethandle don't forget to check in "device manager"
"disk drives" -> right click you harddisk -> "Properties" ->
check "Enable write caching on the device"
and check "Turn off Windows write-cache...."
because after you install intel SATA drivers, it sometimes unchecks the these two boxes

new intel graphic driver 15.33.9.3355
http://www.station-drivers.com/index.ph ... l-graphics
sounds terrible. don't recommend it. staying with official driver 15.33.8.3345.

Okay, so tried to re-do my first go at system32 slimming, figured out which file was responsible for my BSOD the first time stating the graphics driver wouldn't initialize - it's apparently 'tsddd.dll', which is the Microsoft "Framebuffer Display Driver." Anyway, do NOT delete that file, even though bold fortune said to do so for WinXP...
So here's my backup folder for everything I have deleted in system32 now - about 67MB worth of files, doesn't really make a dent in system32's overall 3GB very much, but it's something! You should be able to delete all of the files in the picture and still maintain functionality with respect to internet/audio/basic OS tasks. Be careful and remember to back up! SQ change is noticeable - a little more transparency, overall:
When deleting KBD files, again, be sure to keep the ones pertinent to your language use/country. I only kept the one for the US.

thx. shall try this in weekends.
for whatever DLL you cannot delete, you can disable them in registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID
only tried to disable firewallapi.dll or something like that. there is SQ change.

How did you disable using this method exactly? For instance, I find multiple mentions of "FirewallAPI.dll" under CLSID. Under some keys, there are sub-keys called "Elevation" where you can Enable/Disable - is that what you altered? All the FirewallAPI mentions are under a different sub-key called "InprocServer32" - some keys under CLSID lack a Elevation sub-key and just have a mention of FirewallAPI under InprocServer32.
