This was again a step up in sound quality compared to Server 2012 R2 in standard Full GUI mode.

Aleg, what is the purpose of the VS2013 C++ runtime?
Thanks,
Mark
These are the latest microsoft libraries for communication of c++ programs with the operating system.
Nigel found that applying these latest runtime libraries improved sound quality when applying AudioPhil's Optimiser.
Apparently the default C++-libraries are not as good for sound reproduction as the newer onces are.

better install vs2013. only install C++ 2013 runtime will make SQ strained. probably won't detect strained SQ if you OS is already strained hehe...

Silly advice to install unneeded files.
BTW you don't even know what the effect is on a proper hifi-chain.

don't want vs2013?
you need install runtime from 2005 to 2013 in proper order.
test it and compare. there is difference.
(aleg, you tend to make judgement without testing with ears. test before complain. hehe)

uploaded opt7 dll & exe, found a couple more optimisation settings
sounds gorgeous and my amp's not even warmed up yet.
uploaded opt 8 dll & exe, a bit livelier, too much ?
can see why most player developers don't want to get involved in this type of tweaking.
uploaded opt9, can it get any better ?

Sorry JC you don't know what you are talking about.
No remark on sound quality by me, is ever made without testing it thoroughly on my main hifi-setup, which is something different than a headphone attached to a motherboard sound device.

interesting to me that you cannot here difference with expensive speakers. i can hear difference with cheap headphones. but you did hear micro-difference in changing FilterSupportedFeaturesMode. hmm....

finally got it working. streaming from my PC to itself. so, not sounding good. shall try two computers setup.
quick question, the idea of this is to bypass CPU with KS, right?
actually, was it KS i was listening to? sounds like DS to me.

Hello.
Its been a while since I posted here.
I tried to read a few pages to figure out what is going on now, but I'm still a bit lost.
Can someone please explain what is going on with Squeezelite? Does it still use MQn? Is Squeezelite a front end for MQn?
Are there instructions for using this latest incarnation?
Many thanks in advance.
Erin
