I am still making my way through some of my very first purchases and tonight was the turn of Telemann....
....as with the other early Naxos releases that I bought I have not listened to this one in a long time and it has some beautiful music on it.

I have always enjoyed Huggett's playing - I need to dig up my own copy. Thanks for bringing it to life Fergus!

Listening to Pinnock's Mozart symphonies. Very vivid and great timbre in terms of the soundscape. I do like Pinnock's renditions of Mozart! My son (he is 10) is in love with the 25th symphony!! :)

Is this your preferred version of La Mer?

Hi Peter, I am not sure to be honest; I haven't spent much time of late listening to Claude Debussy's music. I don't have very many recordings of La Mer, I can say though that this is a splendid performance and I have no hesitation in recommending it. I must find out which one is my favourite.

As do I peter. We used to get to see her playing here in Ireland on a reasonably regular basis in the past but not so much any more. She is now Artistic Director of the Irish Baroque Orchestra which is, as far as I know, still the only professional period instrument orchestra in Ireland.

It was the revelation of those very timbres, sonoroties and textures that attracted me to the early period performances by the likes of Pinnock, Hogwood, Harnoncourt and others in the earlier days of my listening and I still love them.
That is interesting about your son....I wonder is it the fact that No. 25 is one of only 3 Mozart symphonies written in a minor key? Anyway he has great taste and a keen ear if he is enjoying Mozart at that tender age!
I am currently listening to one of my own favourite Mozart symphonies at the moment....No. 29.

Sounds like great material for another mini thread Seán....we could all join in!
