Simple, delightful and charming works for solo piano.
I can name my favourite New World: Ferenc Fricsay with the Belin Philharmonic in DG.Seán wrote:Interesting comments Fergus, you obviously enjoyed listening to Dvorak's gorgeous 'New World Symphony'. Do you have a favourite recording?fergus wrote:Dvorak 9....
The opening movement was very expansive and one really got a sense of wide open spaces. The Largo was beautifully played with much tenderness and not a little pathos. The scherzo was an energetic affair and the final movement steadily builds to a strong climax. A most enjoyable listen.
I have a number of works conducted by Fricsay and he is good, no doubt, but I am just a little surprised that you have not come across a more modern version that you might prefer? It must be very good if noboby has surpassed it!Jose Echenique wrote: I can name my favourite New World: Ferenc Fricsay with the Belin Philharmonic in DG.
