No restart is required.

Are you testing on Server 2012?
If so, I needed to install the feature Desktop Experience (hidden under Interface <something> )
Only then would LMS run with wasapi, without it it wouldn't.

Desktop Experience however installs a lot of stuff we don't want on the lean server for our audiopc (it turns it into a windows 8.1 more or less).

Probably only needs some libraries to enable it in normal GUI, but don't know which ones.

haven't tried wasapi yet

maybe remove the -a option as wasapi will need larger latency

just found a guide to building a 64 bit so shall try tomorrow, hopefully give it a bit more body

i noticed that dac latency and buffer size settings (if applicable thesycon etc) must be lowered for the lowered local player buffer and latency

body was a little less but resolution/detail/imaging seemed to be more of an issue

I am new here I would like to try the MQN player, I have reached the download section under Main file folder, and the MQnreadme.txt however I have a few questions in regard to installation.

1. I have AMD E450 cpu which mqnplay.exec file should I use? Please elaborate as I have so many options.
2. I normally play CD tracks from CDrom, can this player support this feature?
3. If I use foobar how do I install this software?

I need some feedback before I start to install, thanks.

2. No, this software only plays WAV-files stored on disk (local or NAS).
3. You can't use it with other players. You select the files (with Ctrl-C copy) to be played, in for example Windows Explorer and double click on MQn.bat. That will open a new command line window where the selected files will automatically be played.

For 44.1/16 files I always prefered the "mqnplay.exe 2.73 448 rb sw.73 448 rb sw.73 448 rb sw" with of course the "mqncontrol.exe 2.71 448 10.71 448 10.71 448 10" that belongs with it.
It was a shame it didn't support high-res.

So for high-res I use "mqnplay.exe 2.71 intel rb 1024 sw.71 intel rb 1024 sw.71 intel rb 1024 sw" in combination with "mqncontrol.exe 2 core 1024.exe 1024.exe 1024.exe 1024"
Be aware that to be able to play back 24-bit music, your drivers for the DAC or USB/SPDIF-converter need to be able to handle 24-bit samples stored into 32-bit containers.

You can check the capabilities of your drivers with WASAPI_test.exe found in the Test directory on the Google drive.
Not easy to interpret though so check out some examples in the earlier parts of this thread.

use the i3
copy 16/44.1 flac/wav to clipboard
double click mqn load select an mqn version(only have to do once per change) click mqnload again and track will play

After last night successful installation of LMS (big thanks to Cvrle), I can just confirm what was already said.
MQn still sounds better! LMS is more flat and, contrary to what Alex said, it becomes annoying after longer listening. LMS reminds me of the sound of RAMDisc, but in a bit bigger proportion.
BUT, I believe that it has more opportunities to play with and more tweaks to ad. I'm positive that soon Gordon will make it sound better that MQn and we will all live happy ever-after. ;-)

I needed to go back to MQn, to figure out that it's not retired yet. Nothing sounds as open and relaxed as MQn. I hate it but I had to change my signature back too.
