I was thinking I might bring the Wadia, but maybe there's enough to be going on with.

Sounds like there is already about 7 of us up for this get together so my bean can room is already too cosy for comfort, sound would probably improve with all the bass traps in the room but the jostling for the sweet spot could be like the rugby match tomorrow!!!

Anyone got a good size room on offer, I am willing to lug along the AC regenerator as well?

Will needd a few ac regenerators to power that lot. This would will either mark the dawn of the dacs or if the wadia stands up it will be dacs in the bin. I did suggest I would do something this year so happy to try and arrange something when we get sorted. Probably aim for somewhere in march but sure that can be discussed at a later date.

As mentioned elsewhere I am also up for facilitating. I could have two systems up either end of my room - not playing at the same time of course. ;)

I tried the 2 laptop system for jplay today. Quite a large improvement - now I'm in the market for another machine.......

Not what I expected!

Welcome aboard Fran. I was originally able to browse the internet while using the two laptop set up but it aint working now. I think it is because I removed the direct cable from the streaming laptop. I end up trying to connect to the internet using 2 wifi connections and this allows me on the net but after finishing the track I was playing it cant find jplay anymore. Must reconnect the cable to see if that is the issue.

CD player is gone now so have to buy into this arrangement. Really happy with it the only real glitch is exiting xtream mode. The last track plays again for about 10 seconds. On any other setting it is fine.

Well will it be laptop or self build PC?

Funny, I used both cable and wifi today and it ran absolutely glitchless throughout, xtream, hibernate, the whole 9 yds. Both on W7 (once it was setup of course!)

Dunno yet, have to figure out what to do. laptop would be the preferred route.

I think what you are trying to do there is connect to 2 separate networks at the same time. You should be able to just use 1 router to handle it all though once both laptops can connect to it.

Yea, I'm on board too - finding 2 PC Jplay much better than 1.
Couple of questions:
- I have both laptops connected via WiFi - can I have slave not connected to internet but yet connected to router?
- what does the program jplay program do as opposed to jplaymini - it flashes on screen but does not remain & no info in their manual on this program

Probably the logical way to do it is to block the MAC address of the slave in the router. Find the MAC address of the slave PC, then get into your router page (192.168.1.?) root around a bit and find MAC filtering, and there you go.

I think you can also set a range of IPs that the router will allow to access the web. If you set that (say 1 to 254) and then assign a static IP address to the slave PC (eg in the adapter settings) of 255 then that slave should not be able to access the web.

Or something. I think.

John, you could just use a second router with no internet connection and switch to this when you're listening. Alternatively you could forget about routers and just hook up the two pc's with one of these http://www.ebay.ie/itm/5m-Network-Ether ... 2228wt_952

Jplay is the core program which runs as a service in the background( JPLAYService) you can see it as a service in TaskManager . This means it runs on startup so when you start your Audio(slave)PC it's already running and you don't need to do anything more with it, meaning you can run your AudioPC without screen, keyboard, mouse etc. Settings are adjusted by JplaySettings on your streamer PC and JplayMini is just a minimal interface. You can run something like Foobar or Jriver as an alternative to JplayMini.
