....simply a wonderful listen from beginning to end!
If you like this music, Fergus, I highly recommend Les Plaisirs de la Table on the Ricercar label, a 7-CD compilation of recordings originally issued between 1986 and 1999. Divided between two different ensembles, the Ricercar Consort and La Pastorella, this is mostly devoted to Telemann's chamber music (including fine performances of his wonderful Paris Quartets), but there are some fantastic selections from his contemporaries as well (including C.P.E. Bach, Handel and Vivaldi as well as less well-known names such as Corrette, Fasch, Quantz and Schickhardt).

I have listened to excerpts from Bernstein's Mahler cycle with the NYPO and I am really impressesd by what Ive listened to so far. In fact the 60 CD Bernstein set is superb, it's well worth having.

On a dark day for the country, I'm so glad that I have some wonderful music as an escape. Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you owe the IMF....

Disc No. 2 or “Italie” is probably my favourite in this set as I really like this thoughtful music.
