Finally in my recent Jan Garbarek immersion, this 2004 recording is recommended

I have a soft spot of Garbarek, Rites is probably his most commercial album but remember hearing for first time on a visit to Norway and it totally connected with the ambiance of the place

In the spirit of all this ECM love going on here -

An ECM weekend is taking place in the Triskel Cork at the end of this month:

I've booked a couple of tickets myself and am looking forward to it as I missed the jazz festival this year.

P.S. Saw Garbarek and the Hilliard Ensemble here a couple of years ago - a truly marvellous evening.

Hi markof,
that looks like an interesting weekend....I'll have to check my diary!

The concert in Cork.....was in a church?
If that's the one you are referring to I was also there. It was a great experience. I particularly loved the way the performers seemed to "play the building itself" as part of the performance. Using the acoustics of the venue and moving about in it as they sang/played to create another dimension of space in the overall experience. Great stuff!!

That's the one -St. Mary's Cathedral in Shandon.

The Triskel Christchurch is a marvellous venue if you haven't been there before. It's a renovated 18th. century Church with fantastics acoustics and located in the heart of the city.
