well, the LiFePO4 wouldn't work for me. Its reading 3.3v but maybe it needs a little boost to get the voltage up another 0.1 or so.

I did have it working on a voltage of 3.3V but it was with a number of parallel batteries - when I later tried with one battery powering the USB stick, it wouldn't boot, Nige, are you using only one LifePo4 battery?

Ive got 3 sandisk 16gb and there all working perfect with one cell
only seems to draw 50ma
not much of a load

just connect the battery just after you turn on the pc
may not see the stick

Oh, I have been powering the USB stick before I turn on the PC - it works like this when I use 2 batteries in parallel (3.3V) or 2 batteries in series (6.6V)

Best sound I have heard so far and the sub is now definitely in storage for another build at a later date.
Now for some serious listening this week.

I think it is all portable enough now for clocking up some mileage over the coming months, it will be interesting to see how it compares to some of the all battery Audio PCs cropping up around the country.

is it just the 12v you used the relays for or for the 5v as well

only thing i would worry about is the ribbon pci-e cable, ive used a few before with usb3 cards and i think theres sq loss in the cable.
it might be worth a test,
to try it directly into the m/b (should fit if you take off the bracket)
i know its not a workable solution with this case

which dc-dc converter are you using?

I have a second relay for all the 5v connections switched in by the same 12v line for the 12v relay.
The 5v relay is near the right side and the 12v relay near the DC to DC board.

Glad I left the SOTM card in as the PPA USB card seems to bum out on anything over 24 96 which I discovered when I tried to play a dsd track this evening, took a while to get everything back to normal after JPlay and JRiver got messed up.
The SOTM card has a good quality screened PCI riser so I may change it to the PPA card, but saying that 16 44 tracks sound awesome off the PPA card, just been listening to Archie Shepp on Sax and that horn sounds scary it is that good.
The DC to DC convertor is from Origen, an MPX 150 I think, only realised it was not a Pico recently.

Wish I could say looking into that abyss that it all made sense to me. Wouldn't know where to start. Fantastic build Pearse it looks like it took a lot of careful planning to pull together.

Thats the one that came with it alright Nige, looks like Small Green Computers must have got a deal on these and used them instead of the Pico units.

tried googling Origen MPX 150,
couldnt find anything on it

i always suspect that there maybe a compromise in quality in the smaller form factor components like the pico
its importance may be very well limited when using the clean supplies though.
