For this of us who appreciate the music of Jóhann Jóhannsson, the Scandic-Noir - Trapped (BBC4 Saturdays), features a fine claustrophobic soundtrack by him.

Extraordinary - recommended especially if you like Ry Cooder around the Paris Texas time.

Speaking of which! When walking between Cloney Audio show venues yesterday I dropped into the Blackrock Market. There used to be a guy in there "Des" who had great unusual vinyl at sensible prices but he's long gone. Anyway I browsed a few stalls, the first few of which only served to depress me, and then found one with decent titles including Paris Texas. It was freezing so I didn't stop to check condition and perhaps I should have. I suspect the last owner used it as a dinner plate. I ran it through a record cleaner today and it sounds pretty good now... no longer a bowl of rice crispies!

PS I also picked up the classic Everything but the Girl "Idlewild" in similar organic condition. It too has now been exorcised of all food particles.

John Barry being influenced by John Williams.
