I stumbled on this recently on Youtube and it took my breath away. The great Tim Buckley caught live in 1970 performing/re-imagining two tracks from his masterpieces, Lorca and Starsailor. Extraordinary, just extraordinary. What a talent and what a loss.

That's a timeless performance, Dave. He always sang that so well that he really made it his own. The expression on his face as he sings - eyes closed and utterly consumed by the music - never fails to break my heart. You really can't say enough good things about the man. I think his last 2 albums were greatly weakened by label interference and it would be good to see more live performances from these, his last years, which really reflect where he was creatively at this time of his life. How about this link, a performance of Blue Melody from his last ever show in Dallas (June 26th 1975) with less than 3 days remaining of a brief yet full life.

To quote Song to the Siren, "my heart shies from the sorrow" of the tragic loss.

Some more great live tracks from Tim Buckley in 1970. I don't know the provenance of the last track, Venice Beach, but what a performance. A masterclass in studied concentration, the man is truly lost to this world.

Don't really know what to make of this, but it's oddly addictive.
