Even 11ms worked...it seems to be sitting on the edge.sbgk wrote:seems to be the 10ms buffer your dac has problems with, thought you had 20ms working on playpcmwin, so the solution is make a 20ms version, shall do if I get time.cvrle59 wrote:This one doesn't work on my system either. sounds pretty good. anyone that was waiting for a 1.x or 3.x version should be able to play this (win 8.1/r2 only)
Is there anything specific that needs to be done in PC setup?

Re: MQN
strange because I thought 3 ms was the usual minimum and 10 ms was a good default, maybe worth investigating the latency of your dac.
just read this
http://www.naimaudio.com/sites/default/ ... ration.pdf
and it says change buffer from 10 ms to 100 ms - page 10

I just tried with JRMC..sbgk wrote:strange because I thought 3 ms was the usual minimum and 10 ms was a good default, maybe worth investigating the latency of your dac.

5ms - only cracking noise
10ms - only sometimes cracking noise, very rear, way less than MQn
25ms - no problem at all.
As I said 10ms is on the edge...

Re: MQN
uploaded 2.73 1024 raw background which uses 23.22 ms buffer
use with control 1024
set mmcss pro audio clock rate to 23220
would like to think it sounds better due to the buffer being page aligned and therefore less/more consistent noise, but who knows.
based on this 10ms was too small
use with control 1024
set mmcss pro audio clock rate to 23220

This one works, and it sounds pretty good so far. I need to run through different kind of music to have my final conclusion on it.sbgk wrote:uploaded 2.73 1024 raw background which uses 23.22 ms buffer

Thanks Gordon for your effort!

Re: MQN
i always wonder why USB DAC needs big buffer. with PCIe soundcard, 1ms is ok.cvrle59 wrote: I just tried with JRMC..

Re: MQN
I had couple of times the same effect of loosing it, but towards the end of track. It is kind of weird because I listened one whole album with no issue, and next time I played a song only and at the very end of it it started with cracking noise. I tried some other song from different album and same problem repeated.cvrle59 wrote:This one works, and it sounds pretty good so far. There are still some issues even with this version on my system.

This is something I also have with the later 1024 versions. When playing long stretches in one go, at some point it will fall off and give crackling noise through music playback. I didn't have that with earlier 1024's.
Now with the 448's I don't have this at all.
My DDC-buffer is 2ms at the moment.
Haven't tried 1024 with larger buffer recently but I did have it at 8ms at one time, so may this 8ms was the reason I didn't have this fall out in the earlier 1024's.
Cheers

I'll give it try when I get back from work, I will report...thanks!sbgk wrote:uploaded a 2.73 non raw background version to see if that solves the crackling
