Some good jazz on vinyl now available in Tower BTW...

I love McLaughlin's understated (for once!) guitar work and sound....I remember recommending this to a friend and he hated it!? Too slow, no rhythm, no structure etc etc..... there really is no accounting for taste :-(
pssst try Bitches Brew instead.

I have it and while it's good I still prefer McLaughlin's minimalistic interjections on In a Silent Way....but I could be wrong as I haven't heard BB in an age. I'll stick it on tonight and maybe I'll be more enlightened :-) Having said all that, I take your point Seán, my friend would probably prefer Bitches Brew..but then again he might not as he hates Jazz :-)

To be honest I have to listen to it more. I've had an "unsettled" time with the TT and while it's working well now with the borrowed PSU it's not a final solution and I can't fully relax while listening. I'm not dismissing Side One at all but Side Two floored me the first time I heard it.

Havin' a ball with this one - stupendous life enhancing grooves! Thanks to mcq and Derek (I went looking for the Spiritual album but unfortunately I couldn't find it, maybe another time).Next on the list is 'Idle Moments' and hopefully the afforementioned 'Feelin' the Spirit'...

I've been listening to that today too - he is very "precise" in his playing isn't he? Almost percussive nearly.

I also put on Larry Young Mothership, but I just can't dig it at all. Such is life!
