Pale Green Ghosts arrived for me yesterday, delivered and gifted by none other than Ivor. Great album it is too!
Thank you, Ivor!

Rufus Wainright new release to celebrate the Sonnets of a Mr Will Shakespeare , Take all my Loves- 9 Shakesreare Sonnets. For any fans it's well worth the buy.
On a good Hifi system a sheer delight lots of dynamics and plush arrangements, guest singers add a new take on his musical abilities. He has a FBK page with a recent Radio 3 interview discussing this work,

Solid Air Half Speed is excellent indeed.
I also heard Free - Fire and Water which is more of a mixed bag. I have the original vinyl and apart from the title track the original is to my ears still much better. On the original pressing the bass on title track is overdone with vocals and top end recessed and muffled. The re-master corrects this but its sounds tweaked and bit artificial. On the re-master 'All Right Now' sounds like it has had the life sucked out of it compared to the original pressing, as does 'Heavy Load'
Exile on Main Street is the other release in this batch. While I dont have the original to compare with, it does sound great, very clear, crisp and loads of fun to listen to again.

A spontaneous trip down to
Beat That records in Arklow last week reaped some rewards... all vinyl.
Original 1958 US release
Original 1979 US release
I had a copy in the late '70s.... it hasn't aged well! Still a fine album.
I know I have (at least ) one of these already.... no harm
and finally some reggae... not exactly vintage stuff (late '80s!) but some gems
