This morning it's mainly Alexandre Tharaud.
I really love his playing style - a light and delicate touch, wonderful speed, agility and above all musicality.

Listening this morning to an extraordinary performance of Biber's masterpiece, the Rosary Sonatas, as performed by Sirkka-Liisa Kaakinen-Pilch with her ensemble, Battalia.  This is a gently meditative version, unforced in its virtuosity, but concentrating instead on the more spiritual aspects of this beautiful music.  I was also very impressed by Kaakinen-Pilch's earlier recording for Ondine with the Finnish Baroque Orchestra of the orchestral suites of Graupner, a fine composer who has received some long-overdue recognition in recent years.

A fine pianist, Mark.  I'd also recommend you investigate his recordings of Bach, Rameau and Couperin.

I like the music of Ravel and just might check that one out Mark.

I am off out this evening to hear a performance of Ravel's wonderful String Quartet.

Listening this evening to two superb recitals on ECM featuring the German violinist Carolin Widmann in repertoire from Schubert and Schumann.  She is an intense, fiery, deeply committed performer, evoking a sense of passionate abandon to the music that I find utterly engaging.  Very highly recommended.
