I tend to be too impulsive on these things, so I've decided not to buy any more of the set until I've listened to all of this volume, then buy them one by one if keep liking the performances. But, based on just one quartet so far, I could see myself building up the whole set. That'd be nice, as I know there are Haydn quartets I've never heard at all, and I love the string quartet as a form. Haydn invented it, so I should have all of his quartets! Why don't I? Damn, I'd better buy the whole lot quick!

had a quick listen to Disc1 last night and early impressions are pleasing. In comparison to the Bernard Foccroulle set, the playing from Koopman here seems a bit more energetic and more 'showy' if that's the right word to use.
