In town with a few minutes to spare so dropped into Spindizzy in the George's St Arcade. Both new, both vinyl.
The Isaac Hayes album is a remarkable one, not just musically but also in terms of production. If you have any leanings toward a bit of funk at all you really should have this album and preferably on vinyl.

Big thumbs-up for Isaac Hayes. Walk on By is stunning.
This album along with Black Moses and the Shaft soundtrack are a testament to the man's talent as a songwriter arranger and performer.
Mark.

A nice haul Ivor, I've been listening to a lot of Soul, Deep Soul, R&B and Funk lately and Isaac and his writing partner David Porter have been on as much as makes no odds continuous play the last week.

I have to thank Bannjo for his suggestions, as you can see I've picked up on more than a few.

Thank you Derek, I have to say I too have followed up and appreciated many of the recommendations of board members since joining last year. Just to start the New Year off my latest fave is 'Madman' by Sean Rowe. Mr Rowe possesses one of the richest most soulful baritone voices around, (think Tom Waits/Mark Lanegan/John Grant) which he uses to great effect on this his third album, varying from the stomping delta blues of the title track to the the sweet seventies soul of 'Desiree'. He is touring this spring and plays Whelans on 28th March.

Picked up in Tower for just €14.99 - the Rhino Vinyl issue on 180grm from the original analogue master tapes. Sounds pretty good too. It's nice to reacquaint myself with something I knew so well in the mid seventies! The system has improved a bit since then.
