Rainbow Bridge? Worth it for 'Hear My Train......' BUT you already have it as it's on Blues. Great version of 'Born Under A Bad Sign' on Blues isn't there? I'm trying to think of really essential Lps to recommend...... I'll be back later :)
I had this on casette too! - nice compilation

Yeah that's good one too Shane. I'm actually back listening to some Jimi live stuff at the moment and I'm in heaven yet again :) He really gelled on the boards....

Right here's my selection of essentials you might not have heard:

All double vinyl except Clark Uni.

Live at the Winterland

In The West - MOV edition with a whole side devoted to Red House

Jimi Hendrix Concerts

Live at the IOW - stunning sound and one of my favourites....

Live in Cologne - audience recording and so alive!

Live at Clark University

Miami Pop Festival - first live versions of Tax Free and Hear My Train A Comin' plus a beautiful Red House. Ve
ry loose though :)

One more I forgot :

Band of Gypsies Triple aka Live at the Fillmore - 2 versions of Machine Gun and a stunning Hear my Train.....Good sound too.

Live at the IOW - stunning sound and one of my favourites....
My first "proper" Jimi LP and one that changed how I viewed music. I was about 13 when I picked it up s/h. Around 1975 I was strolling through Trinity College by the Halls of Residence and looking up I saw somebody had placed two hefty bookshelf speakers in their window.... the next second the opening chords from All along the Watchtower BOOMED out over the grounds of the college! A surreal moment that still puts a grin on my face nearly 40 years later!

I love it but it's really for fans only methinks. At the time most of the unreleased stuff was unavailable which changed once the Hendrix Estate got going. Actually I must give it a listen sometime as I forget what it sounds like. I have it on cassette (afaik) and vinyl. The cassette version had the LA Forum concert tagged on which I subsequently managed to get on bootleg vinyl :) It's all money :)

I don't think Rory really captured his magic on studio recordings-live, he was the business! I saw him a good few times in the late 80's-90's and he had it right up to his untimely passing.
Probably will come on vinyl at some point too I expect Dermot

Here's hoping :( I only saw him the once. Dressed in black at the Guinness Blues Festival in Dublin. Started off with 'I Wonder Who (Who's Gonna Be Your Sweetman)' and it was like a tidal wave! I've never forgiven myself for not seeing him more often when he was in his prime. God bless him.....
