Thanks Nigel for all the efforts and hospitality last night.Certainly a lot of hassle and setting up many thanks for doing all that. The batteries certainly did something.Difficult to be conclusive on first listen. Some tracks were very noticeable but others not so. Introduction of another amp and changes to mqn eventually cloud the mind(for me anyway).

From what I can see the 2 linear supplies to the board(one pico and one direct to board) are easy enough to try on battery(assuming you have two car batteries lying around). They can be charged using the maplin linear supplies already purchased.

The 5v to usb or ssd will probably be sorted by you guys using either some concoction of John's battery yoke or maybe a 6 volt motorcycle battery if still available(Honda 50's use to be 6v)

The practicalities interfere with this but if the rack(rear is designed carefully you could stack 2 maplins on top of two batteries). It is doable if
one is mad enough. I think sitting in the wings waiting for the experts to come up with a good solution will be my role. Would suggest checking out how red wine audio/hynes etc do this type of thing.(minus the exorbitant cost of course)

Very special thanks to Ken for saving my 13yr old xantia from any pothole damage to her sensitive steel rims.Sacrificing his sturdy germanic alloys was much appreciated.

Yea, thanks Nige for hosting this & your hospitality. The free tour of Co. Meath & my first view of a GATHERING in Moynalty. The potholes were just an added bonus that was much appreciated - I haven't had as much fun since driving fairground bumper cars - the only downside was I couldn't hand the car back at the end of my ride :)

BTW, am I the only one to use emoticons on this forum? Is it passé? :(

Battery options made a SQ difference to the sound, IMO - gave it more body & richness

Agreed MQN (the version we had, anyway) fell somewhere above Jplay single PC but below JPlay streaming. Could some of this be down to Jplay running on Core Server 2012 whereas MQN was running on Server 2012? Was Audiophil's script in use on core server also - I'm not sure?

Earlier version of audiphil script. Currently at version 13 probably 11 or 12. Emoticons don't seem to work well they don't display on my browser.

BTW John were you arrested at the toll booth or just sightseeing?

Ah, yes you copped that :)
Not being a frequenter of toll roads, I didn't know the ropes & drove into the cashier's lane only to find no cashier. I had no change & only a 10 euro note.

I thought to myself that you guys were coming up behind so I would get some change from ye but you breezed on by - thanks a lot :)

Anyway after you disappeared into the rain & mist, I heard a voice over a Tannoy (thought it was God) asking me the same question as you "are you sight-seeing or what"

Luckily I had a Visa card with me.

Back to the listening - so Jplay streaming was using Audiophil's script but MQN wasn't - this could explain some of the SQ differences?

jplay was on audiophils beta script
Mqn was on standard server 2012 with gui no optimisation at all

We have to buy disposable second hand cars down here, its the most efficient way to survive the pot holes

Where you not impressed with Ken playing chicken with the automatic barrier I was expecting him to take it clean off?
Sorry about that but couldn't convince Ken to stop on the motorway and reverse!

You have heard mqn with jplay on a level operating field so would believe it is very good regardless of core server.
As Fran pointed out 99% of folk would be blown away just with mqn and to hell with streaming/lan cables/router etc.
It sounded very well to me and the fact it is free!

I know - I'm only joking - I don't hold it against you two but you are both on my ignore list now :)

I already have one of those cars - you wouldn't believe it's vintage!! Put it like this - in a a couple of years I should be able to get vintage car insurance.

I was recently sitting with a group of young bucks who were talking about cars & the anti-theft devices they use. I offered my anti-theft solution - a '97 number plate :)

I believe you are correct - core server doesn't do wasapi & audiophil hasn't yet been able to get it working - don't know if he has given up on this?
