Lampizator Big7
Re: Lampizator Big7
I think the Regs drop by exactly 3v Nige and this is why I went with the 6.3v out, hard to find ones with 6.3v out so I could get a nice solid 3.3v out.

id say it would be fineSligolad wrote:I think the Regs drop by exactly 3v Nige and this is why I went with the 6.3v out, hard to find ones with 6.3v out so I could get a nice solid 3.3v out.
dropout is worse case
not exactly pushing the limits
you could use higher voltage 7,8,9 vdc
anyway toroidy likely would make em at 6.3v delivered for less

Re: Lampizator Big7
Finally found a better solution which works great in the Big7 for the 2 x 3.3v supplies to the DIYINHK XMOS 768K USB card after reading about these new Regulators over at Robs thread at http://www.usaudiomart.com/forum/viewto ... =35&t=1172.
I did not think they would work as well as they did and they only get luke warm running a few hours without being attached to any heat-sink.
Available here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LT3045-LM-Ultra ... 2948166542
You will need to state the required output voltage when ordering them and they will be built to suit.
They run great off the existing Lampi Big7 5v supply so a nice compact solution and impressive lift in sound quality, very noticeable on the low end.
A highly recommended upgrade for any Lampi owners willing to open up the potential of these wonderfull DAC's.

Hey Pearse, you know you have another source of pristine 2 * 3.3V supplies - the ISO-PS unit you recently got from me.
Easy enough to supply a different umbilical cable for 2 * 3.3V feed to your USB DAC

I will be making PCB for these regulators for myself. Will report when they are ready.

Re: Lampizator Big7
are those regs fit to power the diyinhk 800ma?
would be interesting to do a comparison with lifepo4 cells with a dac build

Re: Lampizator Big7
LT3045 can provide 500mA max. Personally I would not put more than 300-350mA on them. They can be used in parallel though. The require a very small output series resistance. Around 0.3 Ohm.

Re: Lampizator Big7
True - not cheap, but cheaper than Ebay. In terms of paralleling see page 26:

Re: Lampizator Big7
Definitely worth doing a comparison at a meetup as I already have run LifePo 3.3v batteries on the same inputs and I still have the batteries ready to easily switch back and forth in seconds.
My belief so far is the regulators have the edge but I could be wrong since I have made a lot of changes in recent weeks and months.
I am hearing music like i never heard it before with new Wtfplay, ISO Hub, Regulators, baffles on the Raidhos and various tweaks.
In terms of paralleling these regulators could they be built in an array to give 1.3v out at 5 or 6 amps?
I would make that investment if I could get a build that would give me this voltage and current to try on the RAM power, this may be my last line of attack and improvement on the Mobo.
