Unfortunately the link won't download for me :-( But I do know the song well....

"Song to the Siren"

On the floating, shapeless oceans
I did all my best to smile
'till your singing eyes and fingers
drew me loving into your eyes.

And you sang "Sail to me, sail to me;
Let me enfold you."

Here I am, here I am waiting to hold you.
Did I dream you dreamed about me?
Were you here when I was full sail?

Now my foolish boat is leaning, broken love lost on your rocks.
For you sang, "Touch me not, touch me not, come back tomorrow."
Oh my heart, oh my heart shies from the sorrow.
I'm as puzzled as a newborn child.
I'm as riddled as the tide.
Should I stand amid the breakers?
Or shall I lie with death my bride?

Hear me sing: "Swim to me, swim to me, let me enfold you."
"Here I am. Here I am, waiting to hold you."

I made this vid tonight.... more as a learning exercise for the camera than anything! But the recording is real, taken using a Zoom H1 recorder mounted on a tripod at ear height in my normal listening spot in the room. In other words, this is what it sounds like in the room.

Of course bear in mind you are hearing it through the recorder, and the audio processing for youtube etc etc...

Nice one Fran! I like the Zoom H1 too. I went looking for a reasonably priced digital recorder (Edirol et al) last year and promptly forgot all about it! Now you've rekindled my interest again....Is it really as good as they say?

mmmm, too early to say yet. Tonight I'm going to try using it with the line in rather than the XY mics. That will be interesting I think. On another forum one of the guys thought that the treble was down a bit... but I'm not surprised because I had a dead kitten on the mics to cut down noise.

I just bought a H2 2ndhand (I borrowed the H1) so it'll be good to compare to that too.

They both can record in 24/96 wav as well.....

One of the more interesting progressive rock bands of the Seventies was Gentle Giant. Here are some wonderful performances from a show for German TV in 1974.

One of the greatest songs ever written (and one of the most perfect vocal performances as well). Every time I hear that song, time just stops for me. A priceless piece of video footage.
