Sean, I was going to ask something similar, although given Fergus' flawless track record in library building, I was going to phrase it slightly more delicately...

are these Oratorios short Fergus, given there are two on the disk(s)? When were they written?

LOL!!!

Yes Jared, these are two short Oratorios that are on one CD. Carissimi is an early composer (1605-1674) of whom I know little but would like to know more; hence the purchase!

^^ that is interesting indeed... I'm guessing he was influenced by the likes of Monteverdi? This must have been right at the birth of the oratorio as a musical form, and should at any rate prove to be an interesting document...

Over the past month or so, I have been investing in a stock of Tallis Scholars CDs, which I will be playing regularly over the coming weeks. Rather than internittantly clogging up the other thread with their album covers, I thought I'd show you what I have purchased, and will be enjoying. I have only recently come to experience their performances which I really enjoy and will no doubt be building a small library of their repertoire over the coming years, as Renaissance music is something I will certainly wish to hear more of, in the future..
