structurally, there are a lot of similarities with Haydn's Masses (same era, obviously) however they just aren't as well known or recorded. Personally, I think they represent Hummel at his finest, and they are delightful in their own right. I can't help feeling that this is the sort of repertoire where Richard Hickox and his wife Susan Gritton excelled.. and in doing so, they did Hummel proud..
