I can't remember much of the soundtrack with the exception of the famous Sarabande, which has the dubious honour of being the only piece I ever arranged for a brass band!

Anyway, I still think this is the most beautiful-looking film I know.

It is said that he researched obsessively all of the art books that he could find of the relevant period as he wanted every frame to look like a painting!

I bet that Sarabande sounded great in that arrangement!

Just saw these in a documentary about the Hang Drum on youtube. I was struck by their very serious recording equipment, so found their albums on Spotify. Very well recorded with some great dynamics and loads of full sounding instruments with good space around them. Music quality wise, it would probably fall into Dave's famous "plinky-plonky" category, so be warned..... But interesting sounds non the less! :)

Hi Fergus,
As you'd probably expect, the playing is outstanding, the recording is dynamic and detailed and the choice of selections is superb.
There is some humming, occasional grunts and groans on the record but these are mostly in the background.
This is volume one of two. The other is also on Qobuz, so I'll give it a listen-to during the week.
Mark.

I somehow managed to buy vol. 2 first but everything that Mark mentioned above in relation to vol. 1 applies here also.
